Lead Follow-Up Opportunity Calculator

How much opportunity might be hiding in your inquiry follow-up?

A missed inquiry or inconsistent response is easy to dismiss as a small inconvenience. Across months, even modest changes in conversion can deserve a serious look. This calculator models the opportunity without assuming every lead becomes a sale.

Lead Follow-Up Opportunity Calculator

Explore the financial difference between your current lead conversion rate and a reasonable improvement scenario. Use your own lead volume, close rate and economics; this calculator does not assume industry averages.

Only inquiries that could realistically become customers.
Share of inquiries that currently become customers.
Example: 15% to 18% is 3 percentage points.

Your calculator data stays private. Contemedia does not store your calculator inputs or results. Calculations run in your browser and are not sent to our server by these tools. Download a copy if you want to keep or share it. Standard website analytics, if enabled, may record page visits, not these field values.

For illustration and planning only. Results depend entirely on your assumptions and do not guarantee revenue, savings or outcomes. Do not count recovered labor time as cash savings unless staffing costs actually change.

Research context, not a calculator input: A 2011 Harvard Business Review study of online sales inquiries reported that companies attempting contact within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify a lead as companies that waited another hour. The outcome measured was lead qualification, not closed sales. The study is historical and does not establish the improvement your business would see.

What this model tells you, and what it doesn’t

The calculator measures the difference between your current conversion rate and a proposed improved rate. It multiplies the additional won customers by average revenue and contribution margin. It does not predict how much improvement faster follow-up will actually create.

Try three scenarios

Run the calculator with a 1-point, 3-point, and 5-point conversion increase. Compare the resulting contribution with the cost of improving routing, call handling, or sales follow-up. Use real CRM or call records to validate whether missed opportunities exist.

What to examine next

  • Do all calls, forms and emails reach a clear owner?
  • How quickly are inquiries acknowledged?
  • Does someone follow up when the first attempt fails?
  • Can you tell which sources create qualified customers?
